Happy Holidays

Happy Holidays everyone and welcome to the winter edition of the Racing for Recovery Newsletter. Where do we begin? Let’s start by saying THANK YOU to all of the volunteers, sponsors, donors, supporters and participants who have provided endless guidance, encouragement and assistance throughout the year. This program would not be of benefit to anyone without all of you, so again, Racing for Recovery and everyone who has improved their lives because of your support say, “THANK YOU!

Our 2007 Events Were a Success!

Racing for Recovery had 4 significant events this past year that allowed us to share our mission. We started off by implementing the first Mentoring Program on Long Island where youth not only participated in a weekly drug prevention and self-esteem message they completed a Racing for Recovery Triathlon as well.

We also held the 3rd Annual Sprint and Half Ironman Triathlon in our beautiful new location of Monroe, Michigan. Close to 400 participants swam, biked and ran their way to the finish line while family and friends cheered them on. We concluded our season with the Inaugural Racing for Recovery 5k in Las Vegas which benefited St. Jude’s but also supported our 6th Annual Racing for Recovery 5k, 10k in Sylvania, Ohio. Overall these amazing events attracted individuals and their families from over 25 states with over 1,000 participants.

Achievements Recognized

Racing for Recovery proudly awarded the Racing for Recovery Achievement Award to Guy Bartlett, Jodi Vogelsong and Jonathan Chang. You may recognize Jonathan – he was featured in the ESPN special that aired several times last Fall. Congrats to all of you and we look forward to next years recipients.

Paying It Forward

Racing for Recovery once again donated $500.00 to the Lourdes College Scholarship Fund. Lourdes College is where our local 5k, 10k event is held and we are proud to help an individual pursue a higher level education through our support. We also donated over 250 Racing for Recovery t-shirts to homeless and recovery shelters as well.

New Race in Idaho

We proudly announce our new triathlon which will be held on June 21 at Red Fish Lake in Idaho. This venue is spectacular! Check the website for more information on this event. If you would like to implement one of our signature 5k’s or triathlons please contact us.
