Sports The Ford Everyday Hero Award was presented at each of the five full Ironman events that Ironman North America / North America Sports held in 2006. Nominations were solicited through the NA Sports event specific newsletters and an email blast sent directly to the athletes registered for each event. The winner of the “Local Hero” Award receives a $1,000 donation to a local charity of their choice as well as additional prizes including an entry slot in any Ironman North America (NA Sports) Race in the next year. The recipient will also receive local exposure in the form of video coverage at the Ford Ironman Welcome Dinner where they will be seated with the Ford corporate representatives. Ford presents an Everyday Hero award at every full-distance Ironman event on the Ironman North America race calendar. The Everyday Hero Award is geared toward athletes who have contributed to a person, charity or organization in a significant way and who have done so while undertaking the rigorous training for an Ironman event. The recognition tied to the award will give the Ironman community a first-hand account of the contributions and sacrifices this person has made The following will provide a short bio of the outstanding individuals we have been priviledged to recognize during 2006. Ford Ironman Arizona – Todd Crandall was selected as the Ford Everyday Hero for the Tempe Race. Todd was racing on behalf of his charity Racing for Recovery. Todd has brought himself back from a life of drug and alcohol abuse to provide a positive role model to other as to how a commitment to exercise and Ironman racing can change your life... We know that there are other exceptional individuals who contribute to their communities as they undertake the Ironman journey and look forward to working with Ford to recognize a few of those athletes during the 2007 season. |
